Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
Q: What happens during the trial visit?
The trial is a short “meet & greet” session to get to know your pup and make sure they feel comfortable with us. We’ll gently introduce them to our space, observe their behavior, and see if they’re ready to join our daycare or boarding program. It also gives you a chance to ask questions and get to know our team!
Q: How do I know if my dog is considered small or medium?
We welcome both small and medium-sized dogs at Sunshine!
Small dogs: under 25 lbs
Medium dogs: 26–50 lbs
If your pup falls within this range and enjoys gentle play or calm environments, they’re likely a great fit! Not sure? Reach out — we’re happy to help assess if Sunshine is right for your dog.
Facility & Daily Routine
Q: Can I walk my dog to their room?
We know it can be hard to say goodbye, but we’ve found that the best way for pups to adjust smoothly is with a short and sweet send-off at the lobby. Our trained caregivers will personally escort your dog to their room and help them settle in. This keeps transitions calm and supports a positive, confident experience.
Q: Is the webcam available 24/7?
The webcam is available overnight for boarding guests only. But don’t worry, we send out daily report cards with photos, videos, and a daily summary so you’ll always know how your pup’s day went.
Health & Safety
Q: What vaccines are required before my dog can attend?
For the safety of all our guests, we require proof of up-to-date vaccinations for:
Rabies
Bordetella (kennel cough)
DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Parainfluenza)
Please bring or send us your vet records before your pup’s trial visit.
Q: Can my dog attend if they aren’t spayed/neutered?
For the safety and comfort of all dogs, we require that dogs over 3 months be spayed or neutered to attend Sunshine Dogs Club.
Q: What happens if my dog gets sick or injured during their stay?
Your dog’s health and safety is our top priority. In the rare event of illness or injury, we’ll contact you immediately and, if needed, take your dog to your preferred vet or one of our trusted partner clinics.
What to Bring
Q: Can I bring my dog’s own food or bed?
Yes, definitely — although we provide cozy bedding and high-quality food, we recommend bringing your dog’s usual food, bed, or comfort items. Familiar smells and routines help lower stress and make your pup feel more at home, especially during their initial visits.
Booking & Scheduling
Q: How far in advance should I book boarding?
We recommend booking boarding at least 2–4 weeks in advance, especially around weekends and holidays, as space fills up quickly for small and medium dogs.
